Lots of on-line seller mark their magnifying glass camera to be mechanical zoom, is that real?

Mechanical zoom shall request certain special structure which is very much obvious and can be distinguished with a simple look. Optical zoom, also known as mechanical zoom, requires a camera with a mechanical zoom lens, such as in a pan tilt zoom camera.

The focal width of the lens physically expands and contracts as you zoom in and out of the image. There is no loss in resolution when you zoom in using optical zoom.

To make optical zoom: need to change the w angle and the focal lens:  “f”, the lens need to have structure to fulfill.

Also can refer to attached video of optical zoom illustration.  Source: Huawei P60 data.

So current structure of our kids camera & those of other competitors not fall into this category.

Digital zoom uses a fixed lens camera and magnifies the pixels in a certain area of image (the zoom area) and crops out the rest of the image that is outside of the zoom area. For example like our P28 magnifying glass camera, the magnifying times using format to calculate: Display size*25.4/sensor CCD target size  around 22X times. 22X is the camera lens magnifying factor/coefficient, while 5X zoom which we add extra zoom function is the software digital zoom . Therefore can be understood as 22X*5=110X.

Combining the practical knowledge as mentioned above and that most of the manufacturer & design house only adopts VGA sensor to make magnifying glass camera, optical lens is nowhere to trace. The data is very obvious for end user to judge by themselves.
